Biography of Pradip Shakya

Pradip Shakya (Traditional Sculptor, 1977A.D.) born in traditional craft man family. He had started his craft career from his own home since 1993 after completion of his S.L.C. (School Living Certificate). His educational background is Bachelors in Business Studies and Diploma in Engineering from Tribhuwan University.

Pradip Shakya did work from his family background and which is continuing from Six generations. Reposse work, Precious and semi precious stone carving and filigree works are his main facility. He uses precious metals (gold and silver), games (precious and semi precious) etc in his work. Shakyas are famous for the sculpture made from lost wax methods in kathmandu valley .He also works with clay and wax to make statues and does typical carving to admire his extraordinary talents. He has been engaged with Sumeru Art Village since 2008 A.D. He has also worked as trainer in sculpture trainings organized by different organizations. He started his training carrier from 2005 A.D. He has also participated in different exhibitions in Moscow, St. Petersburg and USA.

Pradip Shakya has coordinated the exhibition "Garland of Sacred Arts" in 2013. He has worked as coordinator and curator in the exhibition "Our heritage: Our Traditional Sculpture exhibition - 2015" organized by Nepal Academy of Fine Art and Sumeru Art Village. He has conducted several talks on iconography and anatomy of traditional deities organized by Federation of Handicraft Association of Nepal (FHAN), Youth Group of the Buddhist Monasteries, Mayur Barna Saving and Credit Co. ltd etc
