Family Background


While talking about his family, his great grandfather Mr. Punya Raj Shakya worked in Crystals and other precious stones in 1900A.D. Inspired and motivated by the Mahayana Buddhism, late Punya Raj Shakya followed and spread Buddhism despite of the autocratic Rana Regime who banned a Buddhist monk life from 1847-1951A.D.

Transfer of skill from mr ananda raj to his son mr dilli rajAnanda Raj Shakya his grandfather who still lives today at the age of 87 did not followed traditional Buddhism but still worked as a great artist. He introduced the technology of filigree in his family and worked as a diamond jewellery maker for few years. Mr. Ananda Raj Shakya took to heart from the young age, the Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of non violence, peace and social works for the benefit of people. Breaking the path of filigree, he introduced contemporary artwork in filigree. House sparrow, parrot, jewellery box, incense box etc. are his most popular items based on filigree.

Mr. Dilli Raj Shakya his father since carried the blood of Ananda Raj Shakya introduced the verities of birds in silver and crystals and established himself as a bird maker in community of artist and art lovers. Who is now living at the age of sixty six.
